FAQs

1. How exactly does the Emonio P3 measure?

The Emonio P3 has a measurement uncertainty of <1% between 2% and 120% of the specified nominal current. From 140%, the measurement uncertainty increases sharply. The nominal measuring range of the 100 A Rogowski coils is, for example, 0 A to 100 A. Sufficient accuracy is between 2 A and 120 A. The starting current of the coil, from which measured values can be recorded at all, is 0.02% of the measuring range .

2. What is the smallest power I can measure with the Emonio?

20 Watt. The power shouldn't be less, since the noise near the zero point of the measurement accuracy sets a natural limit due to the inductive current draw.

3. What size of Rogowski coils do I need?

You need the current I per phase. This should be between 20% and 100% of the rated current of the Rogowski coil. So if a current of 50 A per phase is calculated, then a folding current transformer 80 A or the Rogowski coil 100 A is suitable.

4. Can Rogowski coils with 0.33 V output also be used or do I have to use those with 0.5 V?

In principle, coils with an output of 0.33 V can also be used. Please note:

1. the ampere values must match as they are pre-configured in our firmware. That's 80, 100, 250, 500, 1000 A.

2. The connectors must match.

3. The accuracy has not been checked when using other coils and cannot be guaranteed by us

5. What happens when the maximum current of the Rogowski coil is exceeded?

The Rogowski coils behave extremely uncritically when the maximum current is exceeded. They are short-circuit proof, which means that they are not damaged even with several kA. However, according to the manufacturer, the coils with an integrated integrator should only be operated up to 120% load.

6. What do you need the integrator for?

The voltage induced in a Rogowsi coil is proportional to the change in current flow over time in a conductor surrounded by the Rogowsi coil. It is necessary to integrate the voltage at the coil output to get a voltage proportional to the current.

7. Can the Emonio only measure voltage or only currents?

Only tension works.

Power only does not work as at least N and L1 must be connected to make the device work.

8. Does the Emonio also measure temperatures and pulses?

Yes. The Emonio can be retrofitted with a temperature sensor (DS18B20) or a potential-free pulse generator.

9. Is the Emonio P3 calibrated?

Only tension works.

Yes, each device is calibrated with the Rohde & Schwarz HMC8015 calibration standard before delivery.

10. Why isn't a fourth neutral probe included with the Emonio P3?

According to DIN EN 61010, this is prohibited because the magnetic measuring tip does not offer any protection against electric shock when connected to the neutral conductor. Our measuring devices are therefore supplied with an insulated crocodile clip for the neutral conductor.

11. What happens when the power goes out and what happens when it comes back on?

The recording of the data is interrupted for the time in which the Emonio is not supplied with power. When the voltage is back, the Emonio restarts and data is recorded in the old configuration. werden.

12. What ist the required storage volume?

The data is recorded as text in a CSV file. The memory space required depends on the number of values to be saved and the logging interval. If all values are saved every second, a storage volume of 500 MB per month is required. With a memory of 8 MB, quarter-hour values can be recorded for about a year. With the optional 16 GB, it is possible to record quarter-hour values of over 2000 years. Approx. 2 years can be recorded with 16 GB in a 1-second cycle.

13. How is the data stored?

If the devices are operated offline, the data is saved in the form of a CSV file with a header. This can be further processed with any spreadsheet or other evaluation software (1 data set ≈ 200 bytes).

14. What happens when the internal memory is full?

No more data is recorded. Also, no data will be overwritten.

15. Why is there sometimes more than one file to download?

If the file that is currently being recorded exceeds a configurable (64-256KB) size, or if the number of values to be recorded is changed in the setup, a new CSV file is created. Therefore, there may be several files. They are numbered consecutively, starting with 01.

16. What do the columns in the CSV file mean?

timestampinternal timestamp

irms

Current I between neutral conductor and phase; Unit: Ampere, I

17. Why do I have problems with the LOGIN on my device when I am connected to the Emonio ACCESS point?

Check your browser version. Possibly you can update the version to the latest version. Have you possibly activated a Java Script blocker or switched off Java Script? The Emonio web interface requires Java Script. So turn JS back on. Do you have a VPN client installed? If necessary, exit the VPN client. Check your browser security settings.

18. Why can't the browser load the login page http://emonio-xxxxxx.local?

Do you use a Fritzbox? When using a Fritzbox, the address is http://emonio-xxxxxx.fritz.box. Are you and the Emonio P3 in a Fritzbox visitor network? In this case, communication via the above address is not possible because the visitor network of the Fritzbox prohibits this. You can access the Emonio P3 via the access point.

19. Why can't I see any current values in the web intervace?

In addition, a personal firewall may be blocking the web socket connection between the PC and Emonio (PC -> Emonio 10.1.1.1:81).

20. Negative performance values are displayed, why is that?

Negative power values indicate that the Rogowski coils have been installed incorrectly. There is a small black arrow on the coils which should point in the direction of current flow. To fix the error, you must either physically flip the coils or flip them virtually by activating the fields in the device's configuration settings under Setup -> Advanced in the Current Sensors area.

21. How do software updates work?

There are regular software updates. If an update is available, the new version is displayed when the Emonio web interface is opened and the update can be started. The device must be connected to the Internet for this.

22. There is no wifi nearby, now what?

If no W-LAN is available on site, data transmission to the Internet is possible with an LTE modem (e.g. D-Link DWR 720).

23. Which interfaces are offered for data transmission?

The Emonio P3 was designed to be as open as possible to work with many different online platforms and energy management systems. In principle, two different transmission types are supported: MQTT and HTTP post. In both cases, the measurement data is JSON-formatted. For example, data can be sent to EmonCMS, Thingsboard, pro.emonio.de or similar systems.

If you need a special data format, please contact us. Support may be possible.

24. If the data is transferred to pro.emonio, does it remain on the device or is it deleted there?

By default, they are also recorded on the device when the data is transferred to pro.emonio. However, you can deactivate local recording under Storage.

25. How is the data encrypted?

When transferring using MQTT, the connection is TLS encrypted. Own certificates are supported by file upload..

26. Can the files be read from pro.emonio.de?

No. However, you can create a new CSV file from the charts in pro.emonio.

27. Do you need application help for the energy management software pro.emonio.de?

On wiki.emonio.de/pro_emonio_de you will find help and explanations about our software.
